The Barangay Kabuhayan Skills Training Program of TESDA is a program that establishes livelihood and skills training centers in the fourth, fifth, and sixth class municipalities in order to open employment opportunities, combat poverty, and improve quality of life, as mandated by Republic Act No. 9509 or the Barangay Kabuhayan Act.

It gives highest priority to social reforms and focuses on poverty alleviation interventions through rural empowerment .This program supports the national economic development programs that aims to promote equitable distribution of opportunities , income and wealth across the country. It seeks to improve the quality of life of Filipinos, especially the underprivileged by increasing their opportunities for economic competency, productivity and income level.

The Municipality of Talusan has been identified as 5th class municipality in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.  TESDA allocated Php 1,000,000 for training cost, training allowance, entrepreneurship fee and assessment fee for the 7 training programs. The recipient of the said program shall receive free training, assessment and 100.00 per training day.

General Objective:

TESDAis bringing the opportunity to all citizens of barangay Poblacion, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay to acquire the necessary skills and help them earn a decent job to provide for themselves and for their family.

Program Implementation:

The Municipality of Talusan has been identified as a recipient of BKSTP being a 5th class municipality with allocated budget of Php 1,000,000. In partnership with the Local Gov’t of Talusan they have identified the beneficiaries of the program . October 6-8, 2018 had their first training for SMAW with 22 participants and Diesel Engine Tune up with 23 participants .
