TESDA Zamboanga Sibugay

April 02, 2019- Municipality of Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

TESDA-Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office led by Officer-in-Charge, Marilou B. Olayan released the checks for training allowance of Barangay Kabuhayan Skills Training Program (BKSTP) beneficiaries who have completed their training in the different qualifications: Sugar Concentration leading to Food Processing NC II, Salting and Curing leading to Food Processing NC II, Cake Making leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Pastry Making, leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II and Gas and Diesel Tune-up, leading to Automotive Servicing NC II.

The Barangay Kabuhayan Skills Training Program (BKSTP) of TESDA is a program that establishes livelihood and skills training centers in the fourth, fifth, and sixth class municipalities in order to open employment opportunities, combat poverty, and improve quality of life, as mandated by Republic Act No. 9509 or the Barangay Kabuhayan Act.

It gives highest priority to social reforms and focuses on poverty alleviation interventions through rural empowerment. This program supports the national economic development programs that aims to promote equitable distribution of opportunities , income and wealth across the country. It seeks to improve the quality of life of Filipinos, especially the underprivileged by increasing their opportunities for economic competency, productivity and income level.

The Municipality of Talusan has been identified as 5th class municipality in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay. TESDA allocated Php 1,000,000.00 worth of Scholarship Vouchers for the cost of Skills Training and Entrepreneurship, Assessment and Training Allowance for the scholar beneficiaries. ---
